“Excuse me, Ma’am, we have reason to believe you might be drinking and driving.”
This is what a woman in a Chicago must have heard when a Roselle Police officer pulled her over. She may have been thinking, if she was (and you’ll understand why I say that in a moment here), how on earth could he think I’ve been drinking and driving?
You see, she wasn’t speeding, she wasn’t swerving, but there was the little matter of a 15-foot tree embedded in the front of her car that may have been the tip off for the crack Roseelle Police sleuth.
This is what the Roselle Police Department recently posted on their Facebook page:
A few weeks ago, a Roselle police officer saw a car driving southbound on Roselle Road with a 15-foot tree embedded in the front grill of the car. After stopping the driver, he also noticed the airbags had been deployed (apparently from hitting the tree). After an investigation, the Roselle officer arrested the driver for Driving Under the Influence of Alcohol.
Yet another reason why you should not drink and drive!
The winning comment on the Facebook thread might very well be this one:
“So, do you know why I pulled you over?”
If you’re answer is anything but ‘because a tree is stuck all up in my grille,’ you’ve probably had too much to drink. Let this be a lesson to all of you out there. Don’t drink and drive and plow through trees and keep driving. Just. Don’t.
