Fiat Chrysler has recalled around 500,000 2007-2010 model year Jeep Wrangler SUVs after a company investigation unearthed an issue. Of the recalled Jeep Wranglers, 392,000 are in the U.S. The Jeep Wranglers included in the recall have driver’s air bags that might not inflate during a crash. In addition, 7,400 2011-2016 model year Jeep Wranglers that have right-hand-drive are affected by the recall. These Jeep Wranglers are in the U.S.
According to Fiat Chrysler, dirt and dust buildup due to off-road driving may lead to electrical problems in the air bag wiring within the steering column. A warning lamp will notify drivers about the problem. Drivers should let their dealer know about the warning lamp. Dealers will put a new steering wheel back cover and a steering column shroud in the vehicles affected by the recall. Fiat Chrysler says it will let customers know when the parts are available. According to Fiat Chrysler, there are no injuries related to the recall at this time.ADVERTISEMENT
