Tree Man Gets Bailout Bomb from Seattle
A man who perched near the top of an 80-foot sequoia tree in downtown Seattle for a day was ordered held on $50,000 bail.
Cody Lee Miller, 28, was arrested on suspicion of mischief. A judge set the bail amount Friday, a day after Miller declined to appear in court.
Miller climbed to the top of the conifer on Tuesday and stayed for about 25 hours, ignoring police efforts to coax him down much of the time. He threw apples and branches at responders. The drama sparked intense interest online, with new Twitter accounts and the hashtag #ManInTree trending on Twitter and Facebook.
A probable-cause statement from the police made public Thursday says an urban forester with the city’s Transportation Department pegged damage to the tree at about $7,800.
Hey, It’s Magic that Gov Should Recognize
Rep. Pete Sessions is hoping to make the love of magic a bit more official.
The Texas Republican on Monday introduced a House resolution that would officially recognize magic as a “rare and valuable art form and national treasure.”
It’s not the first time Sessions has pushed the bill, which was referred to the Committee on Oversight and Government Reform, and tries to make sure that magic is “preserved, understood, and promulgated.”
The bill puts forth a case for the good powers of magic in cracking open children’s imagination and name checks some of the more famous American magicians, including Harry Houdini and David Copperfield.
Sessions also name-checks Eric Hogue, the mayor of Wylie, Texas, who discovered magic when he was a shy kid and now promotes the art through summer educational programs and the Great Texas Magic Festival.
Don’t Fly the Colors, for the Love of ALLAH!
A man who was arrested for flying a gay pride flag from his home says he had no idea of its meaning – claiming he just thought it was “pretty”.
The doctor came to the attention of religious authorities when he flew the flag at home in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia.
They took exception to it because homosexuality is still illegal in the kingdom.
He said that he bought the offending flag online after one of his children found the colours pretty.
But when he hoisted it at his house on a three-metre flagpole, the Committee for the Promotion of Virtue and the Prevention of Vice arrested him, according to Albawaba.
He has since been bailed, and the flag has been taken down.
Blackwater Bad Boy Likes to Dance with China
Founder of the CIA-affiliated mercenary group Blackwater, Erik Prince, is under investigation by the U.S. Department of Justice for allegedly using his current Hong Kong-based corporation to illegally provide weapons and covert operators into conflict zones. Besides money laundering for Libyan officials using a Chinese bank, Prince has also been accused of murdering two federal informants working with the Justice Department while leading a reckless group of mercenaries responsible for butchering allies and innocent civilians.
According to a recent investigation by The Intercept, more than a half-dozen of Prince’s associates, including current and former business partners; four former U.S. intelligence officers; and other sources familiar with the Justice Department investigation requested anonymity before discussing the ongoing federal investigation into Prince’s “secret skunkworks program.” Although Prince no longer leads the defunct Blackwater, evidence of his mercenary activities continues to surface even after the notorious massacre at Nisour Square.

See No Evil, Stop No Evil- So Says Belgian Security
The Belgian security services, as well as other Western intelligence agencies, had advance and precise intelligence warnings regarding the terrorist attacks in Belgium on Tuesday, Haaretz has learned.
The security services knew, with a high degree of certainty, that attacks were planned in the very near future for the airport and, apparently, for the subway as well.
Despite the advance warning, the intelligence and security preparedness in Brussels, where most of the European Union agencies are located, was limited in its scope and insufficient for the severity and immediacy of the alert.
As far as is known, the attacks were planned by the headquarters of the Islamic State (ISIS) in Raqqa, Syria, which it has pronounced as the capital of its Islamic caliphate.
